When people think of Sydney, one of the first iconic buildings they always mention is, yes, you guessed right, the Opera House, and, I can absolutely understand why. It’s architectural beauty and location are breathtaking and make for some amazing photography. The Architect of the Opera House is in fact Danish and his inspiration for the design were the sails of boats in Sydney Harbour. Enough, about the history, I’m here to share with you, the TOP locations and different angles from which you can get some AMAZING shots of the Opera House.

1. At the foot of the Opera House – amazing close ups that showcase how grand the building is. You also get to appreciate the texture of the building and that it isn’t a flat surface. Time to go: beautiful for both sunrise and sunset.
2. The Rocks side of Sydney Harbour – many different locations and angles from this side of the Harbour. Time to go: beautiful for both sunrise and sunset.
a. In front of the Circular Quay Overseas Passenger Cruise Terminal and Campbells Cove Lookout
b. Next to the The Park Hyatt
c. The corner of the Park Hyatt and Hickson Road Reserve
d. Hickson Road Reserve
3. McMahons Point – an amazing location as you can also get another iconic landmark (the Sydney Harbour Bridge) into your photos. Time to go: sunset. I can’t speak for sunrise as I haven’t been, but maybe that will be one of my next missions after we overcome the current situation.’
4. Kirribilli – many different locations and angles from this side of the Harbour. Again, as with McMahons Point, you will also be able to capture the Sydney Harbour Bridge with the Opera House from some of these locations too. Time to go: sunset. I can’t speak for sunrise as I haven’t been, but maybe that will be one of my next missions after we overcome the current situation.

5. Mrs Macquarie’s Chair – the ultimate sunset location. It does get quite busy, so make sure to get there in plenty of time to find a spot from which you can shoot. You will also be able to have the beautiful Sydney Harbour Bridge in these photos too.
