My very first staycation YAY in Sydney and boy oh boy, “excited” does not do my feelings any justice. After a rocky start to the year, for all of us, it has been such a good feeling easing back into the “swing” of things. Not really a swing, more like baby steps, but better baby steps than nothing at all.
The Holiday Inn in Potts Point is situated in the heart of this bustling neighbourhood, it is the perfect location from where to explore the surrounding areas, being a stone throw away from the beautiful Rushcutters Bay.
The staycation at the Holiday Inn Potts Point was so welcome and has totally sparked my desire to do more staycations. Why? Where do I start? The room, the views, the friendly staff and good food shared with good company made me realise that you do not need to go far from home to be able to wind down and relax. Only after spending my Saturday at this beautiful hotel, did I realise how much I had needed the break, even if it was for only 24hours. It was a 24hours well spent.
The room was spacious, clean, well set out and the view – well they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I’ll let you take a look for yourself below, but in my words, the view was epic!
If you opt of the Harbour View Package, these are the views you will get to enjoy. Pretty amazing isn’t it? I loved the beautiful views and being able to watch sunset and sunrise from the room was pretty special. Yes, that’s right! I woke up for sunrise, I mean, I did not even have to roll out of bed to see it!
While the staycation was only one night, it was a wonderful one night stay during which I was able to unwind and relax and stop worrying about the thousand of other things I had on my to do list.
The whole week before our stay, I watched the weather forecast like a hawk – as if it would change anything – but I watched as it changed from cloudy, to rain, to thunderstorms, back to rain and then back to slightly cloudy. I was so hoping for some beautiful weather so that we could capture some wonderful photos at the hotel, and my wishes were answered. Despite being a moody end of winter with lots of rain, we were blessed with blue skies during the day and a few clouds here and there – which for anyone chasing sunsets, would be excited about as they make for the perfect chance to have cotton candy clouds. Unfortunately, the cloud cover was just a little too much for a cotton candy kind of sunset, but still gave us plenty of opportunity to take some beautiful photos.
For dinner, we headed down to the restaurant in the hotel “Sirocco”, which is located on next to the hotel lobby and then went for a stroll in the neighbourhood to work off those food babies.
And as a last but not least WOW moment, I just had to set that alarm for sunrise! It was a beautiful soft pastel sunrise and a wonderful view to start the morning.
