Tiny House Getaway – Bedervale Tiny Home in Braidwood New South Wales

Yes, you read that right – a TINY HOME! What is it, you ask? Keep reading to find out! My FIRST TIME staying at a Tiny House and I was totally blown away. It is such an amazing experience and I cannot recommend it enough. If you have not been to one yet, you should absolutely look into seeing if there are any Tiny Homes near you!

The Tiny Away Home we visited is located on the Bedervale Estate, which is located in Braidwood. A small town located in New South Wales, Australia.

This was a weekend getaway and we set off after work on a Friday. We arrived at the Bedervale property in the evening after sunset and were a little worried as we knew we had to drive 2.5km off road in the dark. When we got to the start of the dirt road we cautiously entered, but the property is so well kept that we did not have any issues at all. We drove slow and steady and were even met by the local residents who decided to surprise us on our entry. Being greeted by the cows who were relaxing just next to the dirt road was such a great surprise.

Our host knew of our late arrival as we had spoken to her earlier that day. She was so welcoming! We were forever grateful she had made sure to keep the lights on and had turned the heater on for us. Especially on the cool winters night – it was perfection and the Tiny Home was so toasty and warm when we got inside. When we arrived at the Tiny Home that night we were able to access the home fuss free. Just what we needed after our journey down from Sydney, which takes approximately 3hours 30min to 4hours depending on traffic.

The next morning, we woke up to the most peaceful atmosphere – it was such a still morning and the only sounds you could hear were those of birds chirping and other farm animals in the distance. When we finally managed to roll out of bed and peak past the blinds our breathes were taken away by the most beautiful expansive views of endless plains accompanied with a gorgeous golden sunrise just peaking over the hill.

Our host was so accommodating and had provided all the essentials for a yummy breakfast. We were pretty sure the eggs, milk and butter were all from the property/home made (they were all extra yummy). The Tiny Home has a cute little kitchenette where we were able to prepare our breakfast – we made scrambled eggs with toast.

The Tiny Home was exceptionally equipped – we had a portable cooktop, microwave, cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery, air conditioning and heating, blinds, a little area to hang/store your clothes, an environmentally friendly compost toilet and shower which felt so good to shower in (the water pressure was perfection and the water was really warm).

During our first day at the Tiny Home, we spent time on the farm with our host who introduced us to the local residents – her beautiful bluey, chickens, geese, goats, peacocks cows and the sweetest calf.

After we socialised with the locals, we took a walk around the property to take photos with the beautiful garden in the Bedervale Estate and the property itself. We could not get enough of the views. There were endless plains as far as the eye could see.

Once we finished taking photos we headed into Braidwood town to explore and have some lunch. We came upon Provisions Deli & Grocery – to our surprise – a French inspired restaurant – imagine that, a French restaurant in country New South Wales (who would have thought). Best stumble ever as the food and drinks were really yummy – we enjoyed the yummiest galettes and a Nutella milkshake. After our lunch we took a stroll through the main street and explored all the wonderful local stores. So many goodies to be found.

After our walk through the Braidwood town centre we headed back to our Tiny Home. We wanted to make sure we were there to experience sunset! We set up our bonfire, got the wine glasses out and chilled next to the bonfire as the sun set on this beautiful property. We of course could not resist taking photos and some drone footage too. I had not been somewhere so peaceful in months. We felt so in touch with nature. It is the perfect getaway spot if you are in need of recharging those batteries.

On our last morning at the beautiful Bedervale Tiny Home – we made sure to wake up to enjoy just one more beautiful sunrise before we headed off. Sunrises over the countryside are something else.

We decided to make one last pitstop in Braidwood town centre for some coffee. This time we went to the quaint and quirky Deadwood Braidwood – and Oh My Goodness – best decision ever. If you are a coffee connoisseur, this is the place to go – you will not be disappointed. They have some yummy cakes and snacks to try too.
